Below are the latest and improved functionalities of MySQL 8.0 –

· Standard Unicode: This is one of the biggest updates of MySQL 8.0 and this feature is best utilized to fix many of the lingering Unicode issues. “latin1” is no longer used as the default encoding feature, instead the default character in the 8.0 version is now” utf8mb4” which is capable of supporting more flexible collations and case sensitivity.

·  Common Table Expressions (CTE): CTEs are improved derived tables which can be referenced more than once. The recursive CTE comes with a set of rows that are built in a reiterative fashion: starting with an initial set of rows and the process continues to produce more rows consecutively.

·   Cloud friendly: MySQL is now more cloud-friendly compared to the last version and with the new option availability “innodb_dedicated_server” allows the user to autodetect system memory and adjust MySQL without needing to edit the already configured files in the database.

·  Invisible indexes: MySQL 8.0 comes updated with invisible indexes that are maintained in the background and remain invisible so that they can be switched back whenever required. If the user of the software thinks that the index is not serving the required purpose then they can make it invisible and monitor the changes to make sure whether it is useful or not.

It can be concluded that all the new features offered on the new version release will help with DBMS or database management system. MySQL database (8.0 version) will now come with a number of structural improvements and performance optimization of databases. This new version can be a step closer to creating functional and stable solutions in the database management ecosystem.
